Here are some weekly rides in and around Dorchester.
Whether you ride like the folks on the left or the ones on the right
There’s a weekly ride starting in or near Dorchester that can work for you.
The weekly Wednesday ride that leaves at 6 p.m. from Ashmont Cycles usually has at least 2 groups heading out – one fast for training and the other at a more relaxed pace for fitness and fun. The distances vary depending on available light but generally the fast ride gets in 30+ miles while the moderate group gets in 17 – 20 miles.
New for this year Steve (a regular Wednesday rider) is working to get an early Sunday morning weekend ride started. The ride starts a 6 a.m. on Sunday morning and returns around 9:30 a.m. and includes a breakfast stop. The ride heads south and is about 40 miles and is targeted for a 15 mph pace. This ride starts and ends in front of Ashmont Cycles. We’ve heard that folks are really enjoying this ride.
And if you are an early riser you can join the Blue Hill Cycling Club for 6 a.m. rides every morning. During the week they go out for a one hour ride and Monday, Wednesday and Friday rides are no drop rides whereas Tuesday and Thursday are training pace and/or hill training. And on Saturday they go out for 3 – 4 hours. Weekday rides start at the gazebo at the Town Hall in Milton off Canton Ave. and Saturday rides meet at Houghton’s Pond parking lot.
Whether you join a group ride or ride on your own please have fun and stay safe!
